Going Beyond the Moment
Beyond Sycamore Ministries was founded in 2023 with a simple belief: an encounter with God is only the beginning.
The name comes from the story of Zacchaeus, who climbed a sycamore tree just to catch a glimpse of Jesus. But his life didn’t change because he climbed the tree. It changed because of what happened afterward.
For us, that’s what it means to go Beyond Sycamore.
We believe God calls us beyond that first moment of faith—to carry what He has done in our lives to people struggling with addiction, alcoholism, incarceration, depression, anxiety, and the feeling that their story may already be over.
We know differently.
There is always hope.
It Started With a Play
Before there was Beyond Sycamore Ministries, there was Below Sycamore.
The original stage play told a raw and deeply human story about addiction, alcoholism, friendship, family, faith, and redemption.
Then something happened that we couldn’t ignore.
The show sold out 16 performances.
Again and again, people recognized themselves in the story.
People in recovery. Families. Christians. Catholics. People who had lost someone. People still fighting. People who simply needed to know they weren’t alone.
We realized Below Sycamore had become more than a play.
It had become a movement.
That movement became Beyond Sycamore Ministries.

Taking the Message Beyond the Stage
BIRTH OF A LEGENDARY COMIC
We began looking for other ways to carry the message of redemption to people who might never have the opportunity to sit in a theater.
One of the first was through comic books. Beyond Sycamore Ministries has distributed more than $100,000 worth of comic books carrying messages of hope and redemption to youth facilities, boys’ homes, and correctional institutions in California and Texas, including San Quentin and Pelican Bay.
